Mickey's getting backup: Disney and Formula 1 are teaming up through 2028 – and now Lightning McQueen is joining the race. The new Pixar "Cars" collection is available now. Get all the details on launch dates, where to shop, and its big trackside debut in Monza!

Great news for Disney and motorsport fans alike: Disney and Formula 1 have officially extended their partnership through 2028, adding a full extra season beyond the original agreement that kicked off in 2025.

The biggest headline of the extension is a first for the collaboration: it's moving beyond Mickey & Friends. A brand-new collection featuring Disney and Pixar's "Cars" is joining the lineup – a fitting choice, since the beloved franchise was the gateway into racing for countless fans around the world.

The new "Cars" collection launched online at the Disney Store on August 14, 2026, at 9 a.m. Starting August 27, 2026, it will also be available through the official Formula 1 Online Store. Race fans will get to experience it trackside as well, with the collection featured at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in Monza in September 2026.

The expansion was announced at D23, Disney's ultimate fan event, where visitors could celebrate the partnership with a dedicated photo experience. The collaboration has already made waves at previous activations in Las Vegas, Canada, the British Grand Prix, and Shanghai Disneyland Resort. Over in F1 ACADEMY, the all-female junior series, Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck are flying the Disney flag.

Disney says the goal is to bring Disney magic to fans in unexpected ways while celebrating a shared passion for speed, spectacle, and heart. Formula 1 adds that the "Cars" collection feels both authentic and nostalgic – after all, Lightning McQueen and friends were many fans' very first taste of the racing world.
