Space Mountain – De la Terre à la Lune: Disneyland Paris brings back the Jules Verne classic
Back to yesterday's future! Disneyland Paris is sending Space Mountain back to its roots: the Star Wars version is making way for "Space Mountain – De la Terre à la Lune" once again. Jules Verne, the 22-metre Columbiad Cannon, and a remastered original score – here are all the details!
It's a homecoming plenty of fans have been waiting for: Disneyland Paris is retiring Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and returning the attraction to what it was when it debuted back in 1995. The new – or rather, original – name is "Space Mountain – De la Terre à la Lune," meaning "From the Earth to the Moon."
With it, the ride reconnects with Jules Verne's celebrated novel. Instead of a galaxy far, far away, guests will once again be swept into an idealised era of lunar exploration, rendered in that unmistakable steampunk style. At its heart remains the legendary 22-metre Columbiad Cannon that launches riders into space.
This is more than a simple rollback, though. The plans call for new indoor sets, fresh props, and a redesigned queue where guests can watch the trains racing by. Special effects are getting an upgrade, particularly during the launch sequence. There's a musical refresh too: composer Steve Bramson has remastered the original score. State-of-the-art lighting for the exterior dome was already installed back in 2025.
The creative team stresses that the new version will draw on every innovation introduced over the years to deliver an even more thrilling experience. Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain closes at the end of 2027, with the refurbishment expected to take several months. The project forms part of the "New Magic" initiative, through which Disneyland Paris is refreshing its classic attractions for today's guests.
