Big news from Monstropolis: Disney has announced the name of the new show that will call the Glob Theater home in the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The show is titled “Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike” – putting the two beloved monsters front and center.
The Glob Theater itself is already shaping up to be an eye-catcher, quite literally: a giant eyeball sits above the marquee and on the clock, while a banner from the local “Chamber of Commerce” welcomes guests. The venue takes over the spot once occupied by the MuppetVision theater.
The Monstropolis land as a whole transforms the former Muppets Courtyard into the monster world from the Pixar classic. Its centerpiece will be a door coaster billed as Disney's first-ever suspended coaster, which is also set to feature a vertical lift. The food scene is getting a monster makeover too: Harryhausen's restaurant moves into the former home of Mama Melrose's, and PizzeRizzo makes way for a new quick-service spot.
For now, Disney is keeping details about the show's format, storyline, and opening date under wraps. Early glimpses of the land were shared during a pavilion tour at D23, so fans will have to stay tuned to find out when Sulley and Mike officially take the stage.
