“Off-Road Rally Race”: Disney reveals first ride vehicle models for Piston Peak at Magic Kingdom
Grid positions at Magic Kingdom! At D23 2026, Disney gave fans their first real-world look at the ride vehicles guests will race in at Piston Peak's “Off-Road Rally Race.” Two rally cars, tons of details, and exciting hints about how the ride will move – here's everything we know!
For anyone counting down the days: at D23, Disney's big fan event held in August 2026, the company showed off physical models – known as maquettes – of the vehicles that will one day carry guests through the “Off-Road Rally Race” in Magic Kingdom's new Piston Peak area. After a series of concept sketches, this marks the first realistic look at the actual ride vehicles.
Two rally cars were on display, each with its own distinct flavor. The first is finished in a pale yellow and carries race number 66 – very likely a nod to the legendary Route 66. Tucked in among the sponsor decals is also a “Lightyear” logo. The second car sports a blue paint job with red and white striping and advertises Dinoco, the well-known oil brand from the “Cars” universe. Its number 71 is almost certainly no coincidence: Walt Disney World opened its gates back in 1971.

There were technical takeaways too. Each vehicle seats six guests across two rows of three. The cars travel along a single-rail track system and roll over raised obstacles along the way, with a ride feel said to be comparable to proven Disney favorites like DINOSAUR and Indiana Jones Adventure. One more charming detail: every vehicle is set to have its own personality.
Disney has yet to share further information, including an opening date – so fans will want to keep an eye out for future updates.
