"The Lion King": New Disney Adventure World attraction debuts the first-ever Scar Audio-Animatronics figure
An entirely new immersive world based on "The Lion King" is taking shape at Disney Adventure World – and its centrepiece will be a spectacular water-based family attraction.
The ride carries guests through iconic scenes from the 1994 animated classic. Three separate drops deliver the thrills, including a dramatic 16-metre plunge from Pride Rock. State-of-the-art visual effects, Audio-Animatronics figures, and the film's soundtrack all combine to bring the savanna to life.
The historic highlight: for the very first time, Scar is being realised as an Audio-Animatronics figure. The villain appears in a confrontation scene recreating the film's climactic moment – the traitor standing squarely in Simba's path to the throne. Alongside Scar, characters including Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa also appear as animatronics.
Construction began in autumn 2025 near Adventure Bay, right next to World of Frozen. Foundation work is already complete and the building structures are now rising. Once finished, the area will span more than 30,000 square metres, taking in the attraction itself plus a boutique, a dining venue, and character meet-and-greet locations. Next year also brings the "Up"-themed "Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings" to Adventure Way.
Michel den Dulk, VP Portfolio Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, summed up the challenge neatly: creating an authentic African savanna in France comes with its own unique set of hurdles.
