At Disney Adventure World, Disneyland Paris's second park, an attraction dedicated to the Pixar classic "Up" is currently taking shape. Its name: Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. Here's everything known so far.
What kind of ride is it?
It's a family-friendly flying chair carousel – though presented as a modern take on the classic fairground ride. Story-wise, guests step into the role of aspiring Wilderness Explorers, setting out to earn their "Aviation" badge. Russell, Carl, Ellie, and other characters from the film come along for the journey, as does the movie's music.
The technical details
The ride offers 64 seats spread across 48 chairs, including several two-person chairs so pairs can fly side by side. Adding to the sensation of flight is a dome above the chairs that tilts during operation, making the motion feel considerably more dynamic.
###Design and theming
Visually, the attraction blends Art Nouveau with industrial elements. Wrought iron arches evoke the film's characters, joined by balloon and cloud motifs. Crowning it all is a golden weather vane inspired by Carl and Ellie's famous house.
The queue has been given careful thought too: it's divided into four zones, each drawing on a key moment from the film. Props include Carl's childhood aviator helmet and goggles as well as Ellie's adventure book. A new themed garden inspired by "Up" will surround the attraction.
Where is it going?
The location is Adventure Way, directly opposite Raiponce Tangled Spin.
Construction progress
Building work began in November 2025. By June 2026, the structure was already largely enclosed: bright yellow wood decking covered much of the main building's roof, scaffolding wrapped the facades, and insulation and protective coverings were in place. Several arched openings and rounded corner structures stand out, along with dome elements at the corners that add vertical definition to the otherwise low, horizontal footprint. The blue construction walls were expanded and now carry panels referencing Adventure Way, World of Frozen, and Pixar.
Early July 2026 brought the next milestone: the entrance structure went vertical and has been visibly taking shape since. The construction walls also feature colourful concept art with silhouettes of Carl Fredricksen and Dug, alongside the message "A new adventure is coming your way."
When does it open?
No exact opening date has been set – the target is 2027. Additional ride elements, theming, and landscaping are expected over the coming months.
