Themed scrim goes up at "The Little Mermaid" in Disney California Adventure

Walk past "The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure" at Disney California Adventure right now and at first glance things look almost normal – but only at first glance. A large printed scrim has been installed around the building, recreating its usual exterior facade.
The execution is rather convincing: the print shows the building from top to bottom against a light blue sky, with teal seashell-shaped signs directing guests toward the entrance. Viewed from the south side, the King Triton statue still peeks out above the scrim.
Good news for visitors: the ride continues to operate as normal behind the scrim and the construction walls, with the entrance and exit accessible through gaps in the covering. The temporary walls also extend behind the attached merchandise kiosk.
No details have been shared about the purpose of the work or a completion date – all that's known is that construction is underway on the structure's exterior. It's the same approach Disney has taken on other recent projects, including the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom.
